THE ACNA CASE / IL CASO ACNA

Risen to the limelight of the national chronicles at the end of eighties, the ACNA case is a symbolic event not only of Italy of the economic “boom”, but of the whole industrialization process of the country, what bases his roots into a development practice entirely aiming to the profit and totally opposite to the human and environmental costs this involves. The Cengio factory’s ten-year history and the war won by the paesants against the moloc polluting their river, is together hold of conscience of an ecological perspective in embryo and reaffirmation of an indisputable valley identity borrowed by the tradition.

Based on the alternation between the narration in first person of the protagonists and the material of the archives collected by paesants, the documentary is a travel in the memory and in geography of the places and persons witnesses of the events, to the discovery of the present and the past of Bormida Valley, of its countries, its people and its history.

Salito alla ribalta delle cronache nazionali alla fine degli anni Ottanta e ben presto tornato nel limbo delle storie “non notiziabili”, il caso dell’ACNA di Cengio è una vicenda emblematica non solo dell’Italia del boom economico, bensì dell’intero processo di industrializzazione del Paese. Strutturato sull’alternanza tra la narrazione in prima persona dei protagonisti e il materiale d’archivio raccolto dai valligiani a battaglia vinta, il documentario si presenta come una sorta di viaggio nella memoria e nella geografia dei luoghi e delle persone testimoni degli eventi, alla scoperta della realtà presente e passata, della Valle Bormida, dei suoi paesi, della sua gente e della sua storia.
